If you’re not feeling energised by the work you do then the answer is probably no or maybe at least you took a wrong fork sometime back. You’re not alone. In a recent Gallup survey only 40% of twenty and thirtysomethings felt strongly connected to the mission of their company.
Finding our authentic life path isn’t the easiest thing to do in life because first we need to find our authentic self and that involves the challenge of clearing away the script of others that we may have picked up on the way.
Limiting beliefs, shoulds, and sabotaging behaviours.
But it is a rewarding path, ever evolving and comes with a sense of fulfillment…
v. fulfil – to develop the full potential of oneself
… using your strengths and talents in service of something you want to see created in the world.
Being on purpose.
If it doesn’t feel like you are walking your path right now then I invite you to download my life purpose exercise to begin the process.
Why?
ENERGY
There is an energetic cost to not living on purpose. Lacking motivation, feeling like it’s groundhog day when you go to work and spending too much time on social media are all signs you’re not walking your path.
Making choices that are in alignment with who you are: your values, a meaningful purpose, your strengths and talents energizes you.
This is internal power.
The human body literally energizes when we are living a purpose which is meaningful to us.
In his book, Power vs Force (read it!), kinesiologist – Dr. David Hawkins calibrated the energy frequency of the human body at 400 in response to a purpose that is meaningful to that individual.
In contrast, fear has an energy calibration of 100 and many of us choose our path based on fear disguised as practicality…
- it pays the bills
- it seems secure – a big company etc.
- I can do that (it’s in my comfort zone)
- approval – this meets the expectations of those around me
FEAR
Those are fearful reasons that protect us from the challenge of really being seen and they are the reasons I am quite familiar with having used them in the first part of my working life. Money, approval and not straying too far from my comfort zone were the main motivations in my first decade in work. Wanting to look good in the eyes of others and not be a failure.
I don’t regret those choices they were a perfect part of my journey that led me to the day when I realised that I wasn’t energised about working in a bank or the future career stretching out in front of me. I wanted to travel and at least see what else life might have in store for me. I could always go back to banking…
I didn’t.
The path is never a straight line though and I didn’t step from banking into coaching. There was a journey of self-discovery and exploring that was necessary to lead me to my authentic path.
Coaching is now where I feel on purpose as I love working with people to energize their life, to make choices that switch on their internal power.
If you think I can help you re-energize your life, walk your path and deepen your purpose in 2017 then book yourself a free coaching discovery session here to find out.
